The MACAU GOLF MASTERS takes inspiration from Special Olympics golf tournament rules and regulations of Unified Sports, which are time tested and played across the globe as well as in our recent tournaments from 2012 till 2018. The MACAU GOLF MASTERS intends to follow the Recreational Unified Golf rules, whereas a “UNIFIED PARTNER” will be a Macau local corporate citizen.

B. Football, Basketball, Badminton and Table Tennis

Football and basketball are two of the most physically demanding sports to play, and it’s a great way to help also people with intellectual disabilities improve strength, accuracy, hand-eye coordination and more. Playing in teams the athletes will learn to develop the skills to make and keep friends, and work together with those friends. It’s extremely important for each player to work with the rest of the team to win a game or even have a successful play.
One of the most important parts of playing football or basketball is learning to take instruction from authorities (coaches, referees, etc.). This teaches the athletes discipline, even in some of the most stressful times during game play. A sport like football or basketball will stretch and shape your athlete to give their best effort and work through any obstacles that may be in their way.
Badminton and Table tennis have one of the longest and richest histories of all sports in Macau. This sport requires a great amount of hand-eye coordination. This kind of focus stimulates mental alertness, concentration and tactical strategy. Both can be played for recreation, relaxation, competitively and socially. The simplicity of these games is making it a favorite sport of people all over the world.

#Art Workshops

A. Painting

This workshop will be led by local and regional. Colors and art can be an important factor in improving the mental condition. It’s also a proven fact that painting encourages to directly communicating, talking about feelings when two people paint together. There may be planned simple art activities, which include drawing, painting and making collages. But they all help to develop learning and concentration skills by common dyeing, directing and showing how to hold the brush and colors are applied. Also, to learn the colors and to help them remember by linking a color with object, image or story. That will improve their memory and they will learn to link things in order to remember them.

B. Handicraft

Intellectually disabled people are challenged every day in learning coordinative skills like eye-hand coordination, which can impose restrictions on an independent life. These conditions can be frustrating and embarrassing, leading to problems of self-esteem and social isolation. To counteract these issues, the handicraft workshop provides playful activities in order to enhance fine motor abilities, conducted for the purpose of encouraging people to be an independent member of society. When people with ID are having difficulty with these important skills, they may not want to participate in craft time, or they may be embarrassed to bring their finished product home. Having a finished product can help build a child’s confidence in his or her own abilities. Crafting is a haven to let your imagination run wild as they build sky rockets and fierce creatures, throw a pot or make a beautiful necklace or a mask. Experiment with a wide range of crafts. When self-expression is the goal, success is guaranteed, and art is an excellent way to express feelings that might be difficult to put into words. There is no such thing as right or wrong. With crafts, making the item, not the end result, is paramount. At the end of the crafts experience, everyone
comes away with their masterpieces.

C. Body Art

Indian senior art lecturer Neha Narayan is known for her great henna art. The art of henna (called mehndi in Hindi & Urdu) has been practiced for over 5000 years in Pakistan, India, Africa and the Middle East. Because henna has natural cooling properties, people of the desert, for centuries, have been using henna to cool down their bodies. They make a paste of henna and soak their palms and soles of the feet in it to get an air conditioning affect. They feel its cooling sensation throughout the body for as long as the henna stain remains on their skin. Initially, as the stain faded away, it left patterns on the skin surface which led to ideas to make designs for decorative purposes. Today people all over the world have adopted the ancient traditions of adorning their bodies with the beautiful natural artwork created from the henna plant. Henna is used for many reasons including: self-expression; celebration of special occasions like weddings, holidays & birthdays; inspiration; reminders; beauty; cosmetic treatments; medicinal uses; blessings & well-being; to be part of an ancient tradition; and an alternative or
precursor to a tattoo. German tattoo artist Kira Helmert Thai Artist Channarong will be joint leaders of this workshop. Together with students and athletes several mannequins will be tattooed, painted and dressed.

D. Music Workshops

People with intellectual disability may find it hard to truly express themselves and efficiently communicate with those around them, due to lack of expressive language. They can lose their whole sense of identity, as a result. In non-verbal people, vocalizations reflect their desire to communicate, although most of the time these make no sense to others. This is where music can help. By becoming a powerful means of expression that the person can use to share their thoughts, ideas, feelings and inner emotions; and also to improve their physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills. Music can be the medium through which people with intellectual disabilities can learn how to fully express themselves, with or without speaking, interact and communicate in a safe and creative space.

#Music, Dance & Motion Workshops

A. Zumba

Again, the International School of Macau students shall organize a Zumba workshop as it was highly demanded in 2017. Workouts don’t have to be a chore. In fact, workouts don’t have to feel like workouts at all. With Zumba, a workout isn’t even a workout: it’s a fun, social dance party – with exercise being the biggest perk! The music is fast, upbeat and contagious, so you can’t help but keep moving. And since it takes place in a group setting, Zumba is by far one of the best ways to get your friends in on your “exercise routine.”

B. Hip Hop

While hip hop dancing can be great cardio, it can also help the athletes strengthen their muscles, too. They are working out aerobically every time they make a step while dancing. By pushing themselves to learn more complex routines and training their muscles beyond the typical routine they’re used to, it can help tone their muscles and increase the flexibility and elasticity in their joints. In order to reap the anaerobic benefits of hip hop dancing, the athletes should first learn the basics of the genre and then they can start to push themselves a bit further each time they practice and maybe they will find a new hobby and desire to connect with a hip hop class back home.
